SATO America is seeking a detail-orientated, service-focused, Field Service Engineer for Woonsocket, Rhode Island area.

The Field Service Engineer is accountable for successful installation, maintenance/repair, customer training, and corresponding customer care of our high-speed laser, thermal printer, and cutter/stacker accounts for a specific area customer base.
A candidate shall be responsible for in-house bench service as well as field service duties within a four-hour radius.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
The printer equipment is generally operating in mission-critical centers and, therefore, efficiency and a sense of urgency is essential as it is the ability to work independently and prioritize your schedule based on change service requests.
- Weekly corporate reporting (expense report, time card, service activities log) as well as responsibility for managing (accounting/replenishing) a field inventory of spare parts.
- Repair and maintenance of various SATO printers off-site within a four (4) hour radius to include, customer training and corresponding customer management of printers and cutter/stacker accounts.
- Local, daily (car) travel is required as well as occasional overnight travel.
- Serve as a backup to others for other field service technicians.
Education And/Or Experience:
Degree, technical certification in electronics; mechanical background or 5 years related electro-mechanical experience or equivalent military training coupled with 2+ years' experience; as well as experience utilizing a digital multi-meter and hand tools. Mechanical/electro-mechanical, troubleshooting, and soldering circuit boards experience/ aptitude required. Understanding of, or experience with, electro-mechanical principles and laser printer or electrophotostatic printing experience is a plus.

Ability to read technical drawings/documentation working knowledge of laser and thermal printing technology, theory for troubleshooting, and PC/MS-DOS.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Operation of a motor vehicle. Regular bending, crouching and kneeling. Pushing, pulling up to 50 lbs. Finger manipulation and dexterity. Ability to use hand tools. Rarely semi-heavy lifting (50 to 80 lbs.) with assistance. Prolonged periods of standing.
Travel Requirements:
Frequent travel to/from customer locations. Occasional, >10%, extended/overnight travel. Ability to secure travel accommodations (airfare, rental car, gas, hotel).
Work Hours:
Normal work hours are 9:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday Fri.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Performing the duties of this job, the employee primarily works in distribution/warehouse, rental car- leased company car, print shop or computer room environment.
