Follow the steps outlined below for Calibration Procedures of tag media used on the TEC SX-4 and SX-5 series printer models

RAM Clears

• Turn printer off.
• Press and hold the FEED and PAUSE keys and turn the printer on.
• Press the RESTART key until RAM CLEAR shows on the display.
• Press the PAUSE key to display NO RAM CLEAR.
• Press the RESTART key until PARAMETER CLEAR is displayed
• Press the PAUSE key to display QP TYPE.
• Press the RESTART key until QQ TYPE is displayed.
• Press the PAUSE key. The display will show several asterisks and COMPLETE.
• Turn printer off.
• Press and hold the FEED and PAUSE keys and turn the printer on.
• Press the RESTART key until RAM CLEAR shows on the display.
• Press the PAUSE key to display NO RAM CLEAR.
• Press the RESTART key until MAINT CNT CLEAR is displayed.
• Press the PAUSE key. The display will show several asterisks and COMPLETE.

Manual Calibration

NOTE: If colored media is being used, calibrate the sensor with the darkest color being used. Usually RED tags are recommended if using variety of colors.

• Turn printer off.
• Press and hold the FEED and PAUSE keys and turn the printer on.
• Press the FEED key until SENSOR ADJ. shows in display.
• Press the PAUSE key until REFLECT shows in the display.
• Slide the sensor out towards the middle of the tags.
• Place plastic labels under sensor. (SEE NOTE)
• Press and hold the RESTART key until asterisk shows to the right of the digits.
  • Should read in the 4.0 ± 0.3 volt range.
  • Remove plastic labels from printer.
• Press the PAUSE key until PE shows in the display.
  • Make sure there is no material under the sensors.
• Press and hold the RESTART key until an asterisk shows to the right of the digits.
• Turn the printer off.
• Place tags under sensor and position sensor as shown so the reflective sensor is aligned with the notch of the tag being used.
  

• Close the printhead assembly.
• Power on the printer.
• Once the display shows ONLINE. Press the PAUSE key so the display shows PAUSE.
• Hold in the PAUSE key until TRANS appears on the display.
• Press the FEED key so REFLECT appears on the display.
• Hold in the PAUSE key allow the printer to feed out several tags before releasing.

Auto-Calibration Set Up

• From the PAUSE screen, hold in the RESTART key until the display shows RESET.
• Press the RESTART key until the display shows AUTO CALIB
• Press the PAUSE key to display OFF.
• Press the RESTART key until the display shows ON REFLECT.
• Press the PAUSE key.
• Press the FEED key until the display shows RESET.
• Press the PAUSE key.
